Prepare to Breastfeed

You've likely spent a lot of time and energy preparing for delivery day, but it's crucial that you also prepare for what's to come the next several days (weeks, months, years) after baby arrives. Knowledge is power! Mothers who receive prenatal breastfeeding education have a more positive approach to breastfeeding in the postpartum period, which ultimately alleviates stress and builds confidence. During our session we will discuss goals/expectations, skills, positions, milk supply, pumping, flange sizing and more!

Initial In-Home Consultation (90 min)

Prior to arrival, I will gather from you a full medical history along with a thorough prenatal and delivery history. I will then provide a comprehensive assessment, including breast exam and infant oral assessment with your permission. I have a highly sensitive infant scale to perform a pre/post feeding weight. We will then practice proper latching techniques and breastfeeding positions that work best for you and your baby. From there, we will develop a custom care plan so you can implement everything discussed during our consultation.

Follow-Up In-Home Consultation (60 min)

Breastfeeding takes patience and practice! I highly recommend follow-up visits so that together we can build upon your initial consultation. Let's be sure you feel you have gained the confidence required to achieve your breastfeeding goals! During our follow-up, a pre/post feeding weight can be done to assess milk transfer and we can review and adjust techniques previously taught. We will then formulate an updated care plan.

Breastfeeding and Back to Work
(60 min)

No matter how you slice it, going back to work after having a baby is stressful! Let's make this transition as smooth as possible. We will discuss pumping techniques as well as how to maximize milk production. It is important to review storage guidelines and milk transportation, not to mention your legal rights when pumping at work.

You got this, Momma!
